Round Tables On-the-Go: Drop In. Share. Get on with Your Life.

Missed the Decatur Round Tables? Only have 15 minutes, but still want to contribute to the City’s plans for the next ten years? If your schedule is as packed as the list of ideas we’ve been collecting during the Decatur Next process, here’s your quick and easy opportunity to still get your two cents in.

Late in July, we’ll be holding a number of meet-ups at some of our favorite local businesses. All you do is drop by, fill out a comment card, maybe chat with a few neighbors and then away you go.

One less commitment for you. One more great contribution for us. Everybody wins.

Make plans now to drop by at one of the following times:

Monday, July 19th at Dancing Goats, 10:00am
Tuesday, July 20th at Twains, 6:30pm
Wednesday, July 21st at Karvana, 10:00am & 6:30pm

The formal Round Tables, which concluded in early June, brought together almost 700 Decatur residents for three, two-hour discussions. Through a series of facilitated conversations, residents not only shared their own perspectives but also came to understand the sometimes conflicting perspectives of their neighbors. And out of those discussions came a variety of ideas which, once compiled and analyzed for common threads, will be used as the foundation for development of our ten-year Strategic Plan, the second component of the Decatur Next process, which will begin in earnest this fall. (The latest drafts of the round table summary reports can be found here.)

That means we’re down to the wire on idea-gathering. If you’ve still got something to share, make plans now to drop by. We look forward to seeing you. (And, as always, you’re also free to make comments here, in the form below.)
