Last Opportunity for Stormwater Master Plan Input

Over the past year, Decatur residents have joined together with city staff and their AECOM consultant team to discuss all aspects of stormwater management in Decatur. They’ve kicked off the process, explored infrastructure via an Oakhurst walking tour, discussed regulations and options, considered approaches, and set priorities for evaluating potential projects.

The end goal? An updated master plan detailing the city’s stormwater objectives and initiatives for the next two decades.

Missed some of the process? Not a problem. As we head into the final stretch in anticipation of the draft plan, we’re providing a closing online opportunity to provide your own feedback on prioritizing projects, system capacity modeling results, and policy ideas.

LET’S GET STARTED

First, review these examples of current problem areas illustrating the sometimes complex web of public and private infrastructure involved, existing both below and above ground.

Next, review the modeling results, which explore the city’s four watersheds and the stormwater processing capacity currently existing in each, as well as where simulated storm events resulted in exceedances of 75% of the infrastructure capacity. The maps also show where the planning team has received reports of stormwater concerns from the community.

Then, complete the comment sheet.

Finally, save your completed PDF to your desktop, then email it to AECOM team member Kristin Rowles here.

WHAT’S NEXT

Come October 16, 2019, 6pm-8pm, at the Decatur Recreation Center, we’ll present the draft recommendations of the updated master plan for public consideration. Attendees will have opportunity to review the recommendations and provide feedback to the team on the projects, policies, and priorities presented.

See you there.
