Revised Designs Presented for South McDonough Traffic Calming; Still Time to Comment

Residents, commuters, College Heights ECLC parents, and others gathered November 8 to review the latest round of design options for the S. McDonough Street traffic calming project. The meeting continued discussions begun in September seeking balance between city transportation policy, resident advocacy for safety improvements, and neighboring desires to maintain the convenience of established traffic patterns.

Of particular interest to many was a series of new concepts produced for the S. McDonough / Garland Avenue intersection. While there are of course many possible configurations, the four options presented represent the most viable approaches, balancing a diversity of community interests and concerns with technical and financial feasibility, to improve safety around the current slip lane.

Take the Survey

Those unable to attend can share their opinions on both the intersection and other aspects of the design with our online survey. Responses will be accepted through December 1.

Community input will then be weighed with other influencing factors for a final recommendation to be presented to the City Commission early in the new year. Stay tuned for specifics on when.
