Bus Relocation and Bandstand

Completed 1996

Seeking to improve both functionality and experience in and around its downtown station, Marta, working together with the city, completed work on a new bus depot, accessed via Commerce Drive, which relocated the bus loading and unloading previously taking place on Church Street, directly in front of the station’s main entrance. This greatly enhanced the pedestrian experience on this stretch of Church, making way for redevelopment that continues to this day.

Also included in the project was the city’s new bandstand, built after years of fundraising and now the heart of the plaza, which replaced an earlier, glass-topped entry portal.
