New options emerge beginning 1987

Convincing Steve Nygren, owner of the Pleasant Peasant Restaurant group, to open a restaurant in downtown Decatur marked the beginning of downtown’s reputation as a destination dining center. The success of that first restaurant (called Bucks in 1987; it then became Mick’s and is, today, Parker’s on Ponce) attracted a number of young restauranteurs that has only grown over time.
